Phillip Yoon, CAIA (He / Him) as Investment Principal
Phillip is from Singapore and he returned to Canada in 2022 to pursue a Masters of Technology, Entrepreneurship, & Innovation at Saint Maryโs University. He previously graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics & Finance) degree from the University of Toronto.
Phillip is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst with over 20 years of experience as a Capital Allocation Strategist, Fund Manager in Alternative Investments, Portfolio Manager, and Investment Consultant, specializing in both private and public market opportunities.
We are glad to have him as part of the team, and to benefit from his knowledge and expertise at Tribe Ventures.
Join the Black Start-Up Projectโs START Program
Are you a Black entrepreneur living in Atlantic Canada looking to start your business the right way?
This 10-week program is designed to empower aspiring Black founders with the tools, resources, skills and training needed to succeed in the startup ecosystem. This program will help you master essential business skills through expert coaching and training, and build lasting relationships with other Black entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Apply for the Tribe Start Small Grant Program powered by Emera for a chance to receive non-repayable funding between $500 - $1000 to grow your idea or business. Thanks to the generous support of Emera, we are offering this grant to aspiring entrepreneurs like you.
This program goes beyond just providing financial aid and also includes:
Access to mentorship sessions with Tribe mentors.
Peer-to-peer mentorship and networking opportunities.
Access to programming that includes webinars, workshops, and networking events.

Apply for the International Policy Ideas Challenge
Application closes July 15th
This competition is organized by the Global Affairs Canada (GAC), in collaboration with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are Master's or PhD students at recognized Canadian institutions
Its objective is to identify strong solutions to emerging international challenges like sustainable development, human rights, and geopolitical stability. Between 5 to 10 winning proposals will be selected for further development into comprehensive policy briefs. These briefs will be presented to Government of Canada officials at the virtual Ideas Symposium in late 2024.
Call for Artists to Restore Basketball Courts
Application closes by 5pm, July 19th
Buckets & Borders and Canada Basketball are seeking Nova Scotian-based artists to create artwork that will transform three full basketball courts with the objective of reflecting the Uniacke Square and North End communities.
All three courts are located in George Dixon Centre Park. Two of them, known as the "Top Courts," are situated side by side directly off Gottingen St., while the third, referred to as the "Bottom Court," is located off Brunswick St. at the bottom of the park. Artists are expected to submit artwork that maintains harmony and consistency across all three courts, despite one being in a different location within the park.
Supplies are included at no cost to the artist (paint and brushes) and the selected artist will receive $4,000 upon completion of the project.
