Reflections on Startupfest 2023
I had the pleasure of being an investor/judge for the Black Entrepreneurship Prize ($100K). It was an honour to work alongside some amazing people and organizations who are dedicated to supporting Black entrepreneurship.
Shoutout to Rep Matters for hosting the Tribe x Breakfast Club event at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ). It was a great opportunity to connect with founders and investors.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for the Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystem!

Congratulations to Black Entrepreneurship Prize winner, Tefari Bailey!
A huge congratulations to Tefari Bailey on not only winning the 100K Black Entrepreneur Prize at Startupfest this year but taking home the People's Choice award too! Tefari wowed the judges with his pitch for Hutsy Financial, a financial app that aims to make financial wellness achievable for everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation, by helping Canadians build and establish credit and educating them on financial topics to save money.
Tanika McLeod’s pitch for Cliq, an AI-powered tool that turns your long-form videos into shareable assets in a snap, came in at a close second.
Shout out to all 61 participants who pitched their innovative ideas, as well as Rep Matters, Startupfest, FACE Coalition, BKR Capital, Groupe 3737, and all those who made this prize possible. 🧡
